MISSIONS

Squadron Zap

This page provides you with completely new missions for the Macintosh simulation of the F/A-18 Hornet strike fighter. Getting the hex code in these mission into your data file is much easier if you use Jim Redcay's Hackout utility (hold down option/alt key while clicking this link). Remember, always work on a copy of your F/A-18 Hornet data file. Do not mess with the original. We know it's 14 megs, but it's worth it in the long run. There are also other hacks here for your pleasure and amusement.

  • Pop Gun. By Richard P. Grant and Secret Squirrel. Pop Gun: Hop Six fills a unique niche in Hornet flight. A number of pilots have been hankering after a "gun-only" mission in the training theatre. Here, we have provided just that. At the beginning of the mission, you will find yourself on the deck of the Enterprise amid the sun-kissed islands of Hawaii. You and your wingman launch to find yourselves locked in a knife fight with F-16s piloted by the Pop Gun school instructors. Your task is simple: down the F-16s. Ordinance selection will not work. No matter what you tell the carrier crew to give you, they will only load up Vulcan rounds. Pop Gun only works with F/A-18 Hornet version 2.0.1 for Macintosh.
  • Red Lager. By Richard P. Grant and Secret Squirrel. Red Lager: The Tetley Experience is a tricky mission based on the original Red Glare mission (get the anagram?). This time the village is ours and the Iraqis are advancing to take it back. They are well-armed with mobile AA units, tanks and several different air attack wings. The USN and USAF are also well tooled up. We have a pair of F-16 Fighting Falcons on CAP in the area, there is your trusty wingman and a few M1 tanks. The problem is that a civilian evacuation is underway effected by three fragile Chinook helicopters. You must protect these at all costs; they will be returning with reinforcements for the defence of the village. Red Lager only works with F/A-18 Hornet version 2.0.1 for Macintosh.
