It’s just not cool to simply photograph the Google Street View car any more. And finding yourself on Street View is just so passé.

The trick now is to photograph the Street View car and match it up with the photo it takes of you.

You may remember that last summer I was strolling along Cleveland Street in search of some lunch, when the fabled Google Street car passed me, and looped the block. Indeed, I offered a drink to the first person to spot me.

It looks like I might have to buy myself that drink. Here’s a photo I took:

and here is me, about three seconds after taking it:

Check out Google itself for the full picture. If you look to the right you’ll see that chap in the white shirt has passed the pale concrete slab, and on the left those two pigeons have taken off in the time between my shot, and the Street View.

Hah. Gotcha, Google.

Conversation at dinner this evening moved on to the Olympics, and Tibet, and things. We tried to remember where the Olympics were held in 2004. Sophie (8 and a quarter!) informed us it was Athens, and we all chorussed “Two thousand was Sydney!”.

Sophie put her hand on her forehead and said,
“I predict 2012 will be in … London!”

Then,

“I’m a fortune-teller!” We all laughed, but corpsed completely when she followed up with,

“Naw, I googled it.”

How to unlock an LG KG225

I have an LG KG225 mobile phone. I needed to unlock it so that I can put in an NZ Vodafone sim when we go to Nu Zilland on Wednesday. The Sunday afternoon call-centre muppet could not tell me how to enter the unlock code when I squeezed it out of of him, and I could not find the instructions anywhere. So here they are:

Having obtained your unlock code (calling Virgin Mobile at any time is difficult, and they don’t reply to emails) you’ll need to do the following:

Make sure your Virgin sim is in.
Enter 2945#*1201#
Go to the ‘Settings’ menu and find ‘Security setting’
In there should now be an ‘unlock’ menu.
Enter the code, hit ‘OK’ and away you go.

The cunning bit is the 2945#*1201#
