Senior Aircraftman Graham Livingstone and Senior Aircraftman Gary Thompson
It is with great sadness that the Ministry of Defence must confirm the deaths of Senior Aircraftman Graham Livingstone of the Royal Air Force Regiment and Senior Aircraftman Gary Thompson of the Royal Auxiliary Air Force Regiment on Sunday 13 April 2008 in Afghanistan.

To anyone visiting here, my name is Bob, (Robert) and I am, or was, the father of Graham.
He died doing what he wanted to do, beleiving he could make a difference to life out there.
He died with his mate Tommo who beleived in the same.
My thoughts are with Gill, Kyle (His son and my Grandson) and Jacqui, Gary’s widow.

Bob, thank you for writing.
My father was in the RAF; my sister still is, and returned safely from a tour in Basra last year. Like Bob’s son, they all go willingly for us: remembering, and reminding the rest of us to remember, is the least I can do.
It is too easy to forget that these names in the newspaper are real people, with real families and real lives.
Hence, ‘Poppies’.
